  • Corey Enck

    VP, LEED Technical Development U.S. Green Building Council

    Corey is USGBC’s Vice President of LEED Technical Development. In this role, he collaborates with volunteer technical committees and industry stakeholders to evolve and refine USGBC’s LEED green building rating system.

    For the last few years, he’s been focused on the development and launch of LEED v4. Previous to his technical development work, Corey managed USGBC’s certification team, where he was responsible for working with project teams and reviewers.

    Prior to joining USGBC, Corey provided services in building system design and energy management. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is a LEED Accredited Professional.

    Larissa is interested in how the quality of the built environment impacts our health, effectiveness, and overall happiness.

    She has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Master in Design Studies from Harvard Graduate School of Design.

  • Dr. Yi Chun Huang

    Technical Director EMSI

    Dr. Yi Chun Huang has more than 15 years of experience in green building industry, with extensive experience in architecture design, BIM, building performance simulation (including energy, lighting, acoustics, and computer fluid dynamics), energy audits, carbon benchmarking, computational design, design software development, and green building design consulting.

    Prior to consulting, his experience includes architecture design, research and teaching, developing a performance-based integrated design approach to realizing green buildings.

    He has participated in more than 20 research projects, authored more than 30 publications, and has numerous featured design works and governmental invited talks.

    He serves as USGBC WELL Faculty as well as on the USGBC District Energy Task Group.

    Mr. Sue is a LEED Accredited Professional, a US Registered Mechanical Engineer (PE – Ohio, Florida, California, USA), and a US Certified Commissioning Authority. Simon has over 20 years of professional experience as a PE in the US and Taiwan, working in both northern and southern climates.

    Mr. Sue has extensive experience in green building design in the USA, including schools, performing arts, university, health care, governmental, and commercial buildings.

    Over the past 10 years Mr. Sue has been involved in LEED projects seeking all levels of certification. After returning to Asia in 2008, he is currently working on LEED projects in many different Asian countries including China, Taiwan, and Thailand.

    He is also organizing and executing LEED training courses in all SL+A offices. Simon received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan, and his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.

    Mr. Chen has 25 years of experience in property management and is one of the first people in the Asia Pacific region to have experience in property management of super high-rise buildings.

    He is also a professional lecturer of the China Real Estate Professionals Association (REPA). Mr. Chen formerly worked as Director of Property Management for TAIPEI 101 Tower as the building applied for its original LEED-EB:O&M Platinum certification. He oversaw the process leading up to certification, and worked very hard to maintain, improve upon, and document green building operations and maintenance practices post-certification.

    He is familiar with LEEDv3 and LEEDv4 EB certification procedures and requirements. His contributions helped Taipei 101 to make remarkable achievements in energy conservation.

    Richard Kroeker is a graduate of the Architectural Association and a UK registered architect and partner in Matchbox energy modeling.

    He is Professor Emeritus and past Director at Dalhousie School of Architecture and has been visiting professor at a number of international universities including: Norwegian University of Science and Technology,Trondheim, Peter Behrens School of Design in Dusseldorf, University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and Lehigh University in Bethlehem Pa. Professional design awards include Canadian Cultural Building of the Year 2005, Barcelona World Festival of Architecture International Building Awards finalist 2008, Finalist, World Architecture News Awards, Health Care Category, Erich Schelling Foundation Medal in Architecture 2008, Chicago Athenaeum International Building of the Year Award for 2010 , Keystone Award: Nova Scotia Architects Association Award for contributions to practice and education.

    He is currently involved in co-creating a building energy modeling tool which is accessible, transparent, and accurate for the use of design students and design practitioners. It has been widely used in a number of Canadan and international schools of architecture, and is currently also being used by practitioners.

    He served as co-chair of the E-SIM 2012 Scientific Conference on energy modeling May 2 and 3, 2012 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

  • Marwa Zaatari

    Director of System Performance and Indoor Air Quality enVerid Systems

    Marwa Zaatari received Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013. She focused on indoor air quality, human exposure assessment to airborne pollutants, HVAC filtration and sorption, building energy measurements.

    Since graduation, she worked as a consultant for Trinity Consultants. Marwa is now working with enVerid Systems as Director of System Performance and Indoor Air Quality. She is responsible for conducting IAQP calculations per ASHRAE Standard 62.1 and managing energy and IAQ measurements in commercial buildings.

    Marwa leverages her extensive knowledge of IAQ, exposure assessment to airborne pollutants, and building energy and environmental management, to assess the performance of enVerid’s sorbent product and develop quantifiable results reports for customers and the industry at large.

    Marwa is a member of several ASHRAE Committees, ASHRAE Vice Chair for Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP) Working Group, a LEED Committee member, and Chair of LEED IAQP Working Group.

    He is the New Century Excellent Talent of the Ministry of Education and Peiyang scholar.     Borong Lin is a Professor of Department of Building Science aand Asst. Dean of the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University. He is an expert in the basis research and application of new technology and new products in the field of green building.

    He has coordinated 17 important international or domestic research projects( from MOST, NSFC, ect.) with total funding about 5,000,000 RMB in past 7 years.

    He is enrolled in the Ten Thousand Person Plan by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC (2014, 200 people per year in China) and the Innovative Science and Technology Leading Talent Plan of Ministry of Science and Technology (2013, 200 people per year at national level) and NSFC “National Funds for Outstanding Young Scientists” (2012, 400 people per year at national level).

    He has undertaken more than 40 projects on consulting of green building, energy efficient builidng and Urban econology planing. He received more than 10 prizes and awards such as three times of first prize of National Green Building Innovation Award (2007, 2011, 2013).

    Besides, he is the Chairman of the Young Committee of China Green Building Council; Deputy Secretary of Beijing Green Building Council; Deputy Secretary of Beijing Sustainable Council; Expert for State Environment Protection Agency Evaluation Centre and the Expert for Beijing Environmental Protection and Energy Saving Center.

In her role as Director at U.S. Green Building Council, she’s lead product adoption since the platform's launch, leveraging her experience in high performance architectural design, sustainability metric reporting and technology implementation.

    Gautami brings her previous experience of implementing innovative energy, water, and resource efficiency initiatives across national real estate portfolios and as a culturally sensitive architectural designer of commercial and hospitality projects.     As Vice President of Standard Development, Soyoung is responsible for overseeing research and development activities related to the WELL Building Standard, including program development for new building sectors, related certification and credentialing materials, and general educational content. Soyoung also is overseeing work for the upcoming WELL v2, managing program enhancements and research and development efforts related to incorporating evolving understandings on health and wellness metrics. Prior to IWBI, Soyoung co-founded HealthKeep: a health tech startup based in New York that was acquired in 2014.

    Victoria leads Education and Training for IWBI in Asia, which utilises her extensive international project management experience focused on integrating sustainability and wellness into corporate strategy and workplace design. Most recently, Victoria has been working on introducing the WELL Building Standard to Asia Pacific through leading industry training events and education initiatives, speaking at conferences, and supporting the implementation of WELL projects in the region.

    Previously, she worked for Haworth in Shanghai running multiple workplace initiatives, including project managing the design and construction of a new HQ showroom - to achieve the first WELL certified space in China, and to achieve both LEEDv4 Gold and RESET certification. Victoria holds an MSc in Corporate Responsibility and a BA in Geography and Chinese Studies from the University of Nottingham, UK.

    She speaks conversational Mandarin and has a thorough understanding of building and design, maintaining her WELL AP, LEED AP ID+C and RESET AP credentials.

Based in Beijing, Xuan Joined Delos China team with extensive experience ranging from architectural design, project management to R&D in building standards and WELL training.

    Prior to Delos China, Xuan played a pivotal role as a member of a key team leading Sino-Ocean Group’s efforts to adopt the WELL Building Standard in its pipeline projects across China through a ground-breaking partnership with International WELL Building Institute.

    Xuan was in charge of a WELL training program for Sino-Ocean’s project teams, sales force and executive positioning. She led the cross-projects coordination among 13 WELL registered projects pursing WELL Certification.

    Xuan was also a leader in an extensive research leading to a white paper on alternative adherence paths for WELL Building Standard adoption by projects in China.     Alex joined the USGBC in March 2012. Before becoming a member of LEED Technical Customer Service team, he was the primary on-the-ground representative for the USGBC, based in Shanghai, China.

    He served as the membership liaison, worked with LEED International Program team to develop LEED ACPs for greater China market, Performed or gave talks at LEED/WELL trainings or seminars, helped review the translation of LEED materials and professional exam questions, and supported Business Development team. Prior to joining USGBC, Alex worked as a LEED consulting manager in Taiwan with experience of Hi – Tech industrial plant projects, and as deputy chief engineer in the China Academy of Building Research in China with experiences of 3-Star certification and eco-city index development.

    He has also worked in China and in Canada in the field of architecture design for 15 years. Alex, a LEED AP BD+C and a WELL AP, has an undergraduate degree in Architecture and earned a master’s degree in engineering (building science) from Concordia University in Canada.     Clay Nesler is the Vice President, Global Energy and Sustainability for the Building Efficiency business of Johnson Controls. In this role, he is responsible for energy and sustainability policy, programs and strategy. He also leads the company’s global environmental sustainability council and is responsible for environmental and sustainability practices across the company’s global manufacturing operations. Since joining Johnson Controls in 1983, Clay has held a variety of leadership positions in research, product development, marketing and strategy in both the United States and Europe. Nesler serves on the board of American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, the executive group of the US DOE/EPA SEE Action network and is a member of the Alliance to Save Energy International Steering Committee. He helped establish the UN Sustainable Energy for All Building Efficiency Accelerator and serves as chair of the Industrial Advisory Board of the US-China Clean Energy Research Center and a member of the International Energy Agency Energy Efficiency Industry Advisory Board. In 2009, Clay started the Johnson Controls Institute for Building Efficiency which has recently been integrated within the World Resources Institute Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, where he serves on the advisory group. He is also co-chair of the Johnson Controls USEA sponsored Energy Efficiency Forum, now in its 27th year. A frequent international speaker, Clay has presented at the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, Fortune Brainstorm Green, VERGE, Greenbuild, US-India Energy Partnership Summit, Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Summit, World Climate Summit, World Future Energy Summit, Abu Dhabi Ascent, Global Green Growth Forum, UN SE4ALL Forum, UN Climate Summit, Rio+20 and numerous UNFCCC meetings.
